Bringing the community together

FAQs

What does CITC do?

We recognise that times are changing and there is a need to support our local communities in bringing people together.
Coach in the Community does this in a practical, modern and fun way by providing a mobile meeting place for local groups, organisations and community projects.
We provide a state of the art, single-decker coach modified to include the latest mutli-media facilities, coffee shop, seating areas and outside amenities for people of all ages and abilities.

What can the coach be used for?

We run a variety of projects with most being weekly, but also a number of holiday clubs and one off events such as an Arts Festival, Carnivals and seasonal festivities. During the week we run youth clubs in rural locations; an urban project in a skatepark, and a late night drop in for vulnerable adults and those accessing the nightlife.
We offer a base which is flexible to the needs of the group, and are always keen to hear ideas for other uses.

Where are we?

Based in East Dorset, we cover a number of locations including Alderholt, Verwood, Wimborne, and Cranborne, and are always open to venturing further afield. For example, we run an annual summer club in South Wiltshire, and have previously run projects in Ferndown and West Moors.

Who are we?

Coach in the Community is an established charity with over fifty trained volunteers, who have a wealth of experience working in the community. This expertise enables us to establish links with local organisations, both statutory and voluntary, whom we work with and support to set up new projects. We also have a team of dedicated volunteer drivers who deliver the bus to wherever it is needed.
Whether it is guidance or practical support we can make the difference. And however we are involved we are committed to policies that ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and care.

What facilities does the coach have?

Our Coach has multiple uses depending upon the needs of the project. It is split into 2 separate areas the main part being an informal social space with moveable tables and fold down chairs. The upper level at the back can be used as a private space, or for teaching and training. On this level there are 4 tables and seating for up to 14 people.
We have a small kitchen prep area with a kettle and toastie maker. This has a hatch which opens out to provide service to people outside. We also provide a tuck shop with the usual favourites. There are a selection of games, various consoles including a Playstation 4 and XBox one, plus a large flatscreen television. We also have tables, chairs and a host of outdoor sports equipment.

How do I request to use (partner up with) the coach?

If you would like to discuss an idea, are interested in volunteering, or simply want to know more then please drop us a line at info@coachinthecommunity.org.
You are also welcome to call Nick or Bethany directly on 07958 530904

How do I volunteer?

You have two options. You can either offer to help with one of our partners (a group that uses the bus) or you could offer your services to coach in the community directly. Either way, its just a case of dropping us an email with your details at info@coachinthecommunity.org or calling Nick on 07958 530904.

What does it cost?

Our coach is not as expensive as you would think. The vision behind the charity has always been to offer this excellent resource to all, regardless of finances. As such our hire fee is significantly subsidised to enable groups of any size and position to enjoy this facility.

How is the coach funded?

We are funded by individuals and organisations both local and national. We also run fundraising events, and are always in need of support from people keen to help us in this area, be that volunteering at an event or joining the ongoing fundraising efforts.
Please get in touch if you would like to help us or alternatively, you can click on the ‘Donate’ button at the top of the page. Every donation helps to keep the coach on the road.

What is the WOTS Project?

WOTS Project was originally created as a mobile centre for youth group activities based in Ringwood Hampshire. It was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, and registered as a charity in 2008. In 2013 the organization was taken over by a completely new group of trustees with a broader ambition and purpose of using the mobile service to support a wider range of community projects, including youth groups. The organization was moved to East Dorset, the bus was replaced, redesigned, and renamed Coach in the Community.
